Creative Mending Workshop at the Craft Box

Creative Mending Workshop

Saturday, April 6th, 12:00-3:00pm at The Craft Box

Join me for a fun and hands-on workshop where you'll learn the art of creative mending! Whether it's your favorite pair of jeans, a beloved sweater, or a treasured t-shirt, I'll teach you how to give new life to your worn or torn garments, and save them from the landfill.

  • Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a complete beginner, this workshop is for you!

  • Learn simple techniques to patch and mend your clothes creatively, and make your mends visible or not-so-visible.

  • Bring your textiles! Got a pair of jeans with holes, worn socks, or a t-shirt or sweater in need of some TLC? Bring them along, and bring them back to life.

  • All supplies provided - I'll supply everything you need, including scissors, thread, embroidery floss, sewing needles, fabric pens, and fabric scraps. Feel free to bring your own if you want.

  • No need to worry about sewing machines – we'll be sewing by hand, keeping it simple and enjoyable for everyone.

There is free parking at The Craft Box.

6191 W 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033

Save your seat here. The class fee is $35 per person, and there are limited spots - act fast!

Visible Mending: Patches & Hand-Sewing Techniques

This workshop will introduce you to some basic hand-sewing techniques to combat fast fashion and repair textiles. I’ll present techniques for patching rips, holes, and worn areas as well as sashiko-style running stitches so you can mend your own textiles. We will be focusing on patching fabric from the inside or outside of the garment and adding reinforcement with hand-stitches. The class is designed for all skill levels of hand-sewers. After I present techniques and samples, you’ll have ample time to work on your own project, and you’ll have a chance to ask me questions throughout the session. Please bring an item or two that needs some repair. If you don't have something you want to work on, I'll provide some practice fabric for you to learn the techniques.

MATERIALS PROVIDED: We'll provide scraps of fabric to use as patches, a variety of embroidery floss & sashiko thread for mending fabrics, sewing needles, how-to mending zines, and your very own mending kit to take home. Other shared materials include: scissors & snips, scrap fabric to practice stitches, and books for inspiration.

Snacks and Beverages available for purchase, but you can always BYOB!
